It has been months since we first heard about Windows XP SP3 (Third service pack), a new service pack which is to be supported for another 5 or10 years down the road that covers up security fixes and bug patches over SP2, expected to be released in early/mid 2008. Now Windows XP SP3 have released the first BETA revision on Microsoft Downloads website.

Why release Windows XP's new service pack when Windows Vista has been released and Vista's SP1 is going to be released too? Well, now it's clear that Windows Vista's release is not to overtake Windows XP. The productivity of Windows XP is still inferior to Vista, even though Windows Vista have a very high security system and superior design to Windows XP.

The testing of Windows XP SP3 is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=75ed934c-8423-4386-ad98-36b124a720aa&DisplayLang=en. The new service pack is for beta testing only and is not recommended for high priority systems. Please use the new service pack with care.
