Many knows when we talk about databases on PHP or any other platform, MySQL comes into mind. The use of MySQL have been implemented as databases on many websites, and they include Adbrite, Payflick and more.

The fact that MySQL was acquired by Sun Microsystems was announced on the MySQL website: http://mysql.org/news-and-events/sun-to-acquire-mysql.html.
