betaPod > Troubleshoot/Tech Zone > Microsoft Update being "deprecated"?
It's being noticed that the Microsoft Update is no longer in use by Vista. What's going on?| Authors | Posts |
![]() @Hellclanner i love betaPod :) Date joined: 25 Apr 07Total posts: 525 Location: Woodlands, Singapore | Just now when I wanted to update my new Office 2007 Enterprise installation via Microsoft Update, I entered Microsoft Update's URL http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en into Internet Explorer 7(which came with my Vista installation) and it shows me a new page i never seen before designed in the new Live design. Quote: what the page said Use your Start menu to check for updates Windows Update is now included in Control Panel. In the future, to check for updates (or if this webpage doesnât open Windows Update automatically): That was what the page said. Well, there's a sign that Microsoft wants to deprecated Microsoft Update website and use the software itself(i.e. Windows Update in Windows Vista control panel) to update the software. Well, that's improvement. |
