This topic, Open Registration, has been on betaPod for sometime. We felt that now is the right time for an open registration opening. We also hope to answer some of your queries and doubts here.

Open registration would mean that the invitation would seem rebundant, since non-members can join without the emails. No, you should continue sending invitation. Why? With each successful invitations, you can earn some podPoints back! If you are a subscribed member, you earn more!

This would mean that spammers, leechers, user account spammers might join to stay with us. Fear not, betaPod's impregnable spam checks and email verification should help in fighting against spammers. We have a record of 9 months without spam on betaPod, which means that betaPod is still safe to be with. Our moderators will be on betaPod to check for leechers and spammers and will deal with them accordingly.

We thank all who have supported betaPod. Now, you are being rewarded with a new shoutbox, powered by reverse AJAX and COMET, together with Prototype Framework. The shoutbox can be found at betaPod's Today page. The shoutbox will be soon released.

Another Update on the BBCode System: Javascript used on the [url][/url] tags and similar tags are disabled. This is to prevent XSS(cross site scripting), XSRF(foiling cross site attacks) and other security reasons. Javascript are now totally disabled on posts and all other inputs.

RE: Be part of the revolution: Open registration.

In addiition to what we're doing for the Open registration, we have opened up SiteBuzz, our own betaPod Blog. This is the very first blog prototype we have developed and we are researching to see if we can implement similar system on our subscribed members' journals.

Also, the shoutbox is official opened as of today, You can now head over to it via the today page or the blog! You can now also share the articles with the rest of the world when you see the buttons at the bottom of the threads, where you can use Slashdot, Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us, Facebook, Technorati, Google and StumbleUpon to share the articles on betaPod with the world!

Also, you will now receive messages for some events such as receiving a comment on your profile or being added to someone elses buddy list. We also have a new icon for betaMall as we have Site Buzz as the new family member.
